Costly Mistakes with Auction Vehicle Delivery

After you win an auction and pay the invoice, the next question is how you will get your vehicle. We want your purchase to be as easy as possible, so we can deliver the vehicle to your address anywhere in the USA. Please note that we do not deliver boats, RVs, or heavy trucks. If you buy a car, truck, or motorcycle, no problem – we can deliver it to your address.
We always provide clear and honest information. Before you place a bid, you can see all fees and the estimated shipping cost in the price calculator on the lot page. The shorter the delivery distance to your address, the lower the shipping cost.
We work with many transport companies and always try to get the lowest possible price. You get fast delivery, and we handle the whole process for you. Simple, fast, and convenient.
At the same time, we sometimes receive messages from customers who want to use their own trailer or their own shipping company.
We always want our customers to get the best option. If you want to pick up the vehicle yourself, that is possible. We recommend using our delivery, but you can also arrange pickup on your own. But very often using your own transport company or picking up the vehicle yourself ends up being slower and more expensive than using our delivery.
Let me give you a real example. Our customer Simeon recently bought a 2018 Infiniti Q50 and decided to use his own shipping company. We provided all the pick up instructions, and after that, the pick up was his responsibility. Unfortunately, the vehicle was not picked up for almost three weeks. First, his transport company canceled the pick up. Then he had problems finding another one. After three weeks, Simeon contacted us and asked us to deliver the vehicle. But during this time, Copart charged storage fees.
Simeon paid $430 in storage fees to Copart because the vehicle was not picked up on time. This is unpleasant, but we cannot cancel or reduce these fees. Copart and IAAI charge them automatically, and nothing can be done about it. Simeon could have avoided this by using our delivery service.
Yes, we are not perfect either, and sometimes our transport companies may have small delays. But here is the difference: Simeon would not have paid a single dollar in storage fees. We would have covered them, because this is our responsibility. We always stand by what we agree on.
So, here is the simple answer:
Can you pick up the vehicle yourself? Yes, of course.
Do we recommend it? If you are new, no. You will not save anything, and there is a good chance you may even lose more than you expect.
If you buy vehicles regularly, know shipping companies well, or have your own tow truck and can handle delivery yourself, then yes, it can make sense. But even in that case, you will spend your time, and time is the most valuable thing we have.
