Shaq’s One-of-One Lucid Is at Copart – you Could Steal It!

Everybody knows Shaq. He’s not just an NBA legend – he’s a huge car guy. But Shaquille O’Neal has never been the kind of person who can just walk into a dealership, pick any car he likes, and drive it home. Mostly because at 7 feet 1 inch and 325 pounds, he literally does not fit into half the cool cars he wants to own. Sure, we’ve all seen the video of him squeezing into a Smart car, but come on – that doesn’t really count.
So Shaq does what Shaq does: he buys the car anyway and tells somebody to cut it up. Over the years, he has stretched supercars, removed seats, moved gas tanks, built giant doors, added Superman logos, and turned regular luxury vehicles into one-of-one cars made specifically for him.
One of the most famous examples was his Lamborghini Gallardo. A normal Gallardo was far too small, so the car was reportedly stretched by about 12 inches to create more room inside. The shop behind the conversion tried to keep the proportions looking close to factory, even though the wheelbase had been significantly modified. Shaq has also owned or commissioned custom Jeeps, Range Rovers, Rolls-Royces, Mercedes models, Dodge Hellcats, giant Ford trucks, Superman-themed builds, and other vehicles that look like they escaped from a video game. In other words, modifying an expensive car until it becomes completely unique is not a one-time thing for him. It is basically his whole car-buying strategy.
Now one of those cars – a custom two-door Lucid Air built by the legendary West Coast Customs – has ended up at a Copart!
The Lucid was built by West Coast Customs, one of the most famous custom-car shops in US. This is the shop most people know from MTV’s Pimp My Ride, where regular beat-up cars were transformed into completely insane creations with TVs, game consoles, fish tanks, speakers, and whatever else the early 2000s could throw at them. So when Shaq bought a Lucid Air and realized he wanted more room, he did not ask the dealership for a different seat position. He called the guys who had already spent years turning his impossible ideas into actual cars.
The regular Lucid Air is a four-door luxury electric sedan. Shaq’s Lucid is not. West Coast Customs moved the B-pillars farther back, removed the rear doors, and created enormous coupe-style front doors. The new layout allowed the driver’s seat area to accommodate Shaq’s legs and gave him enough room to enter and exit without folding himself like a lawn chair.
The shop managed to make the finished car look surprisingly close to something Lucid itself might have built. It was not just a sedan with the rear door handles deleted. The body structure, pillars, doors, side glass, trim, and interior all had to be redesigned. West Coast Customs also added several personal Shaq touches. The front Lucid badge was replaced by Diesel. The custom wheels received Superman logos, another symbol that has appeared on many of his cars. The result was a Lucid Air that officially remained a sedan on paper but had become a genuine two-door, one-of-one custom coupe.
Lucid never sold an Air Coupe. There’s no second one sitting at another dealership. This car was built specifically for Shaquille O’Neal – and now you could be the one to buy it. Sounds crazy? Yeah, this is real.
The coolest part is that celebrity vehicles, movie cars, prototypes, bizarre customs, and one-off builds appear at Copart and IAAI more often than people realize. They are not always advertised with a giant headline saying: “HEY, A FAMOUS PERSON OWNED THIS.” Sometimes the auction listing looks completely ordinary.
The seller lists only the basics: year, make, model, damage, mileage, and title type. The interesting history can be found in old photos, custom details, media stories, or previous owners. One unusual badge can be a clue. One custom interior can send you down a rabbit hole. One old Instagram post can reveal that the damaged car you’re looking at was once built for an NBA player, rapper, actor, billionaire, or famous YouTuber.
And you do not need to be Shaq. You do not need to be a celebrity collector. You do not need your own dealer license to bid. We are open to the public. Just choose the car you like and place your bid. It’s that simple.
