One Crazy Auction Win

Last edit: December 07 2025 • 136 view

Last week, I shared the story about how we wanted to buy a 2022 Porsche 911 GT3 for our friend and customer, Matt. But that car sold for a crazy $184K. I thought that was the end of the story and we would just wait for the next Porsche. But Matt found another amazing car – and we went for it!

Before I tell you how it ended, let me explain why Matt wants to buy a car right now. The reason is very simple: prices at auctions are going down.

When people talk about Christmas sales, big companies only give you what they want to give. They never forget about their profit. But Copart and IAAI work differently. You set the price. You decide your final bid. Just look at the chart:

This is Copart sales data from the start of the year. You can clearly see that prices for insurance cars keep going down. And that is exactly why Matt wants to buy now! All of December and early January is the best time to find your best deal of the year. This is not a promo – this is real data.

Now back to the car Matt found. And it is a 2016 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 – a true American dream car. 6.2L V8 with a crazy 650 hp. And yes – it’s faster than a Hellcat Charger! It’s hard to imagine a better car just for driving fun.

The car was listed at the auction as vandalism damage, and I’m sure it’s a theft recovery vehicle. The thieves broke the window, and besides small scratches, I don’t see any real damage.

Alright, no more waiting. Yes – Matt bought it! He started at $36K, but we had to go up to $43,050.

And this is still an amazing deal, because cars like this sell for $70K and up.

Big congrats to Matt – these are huge savings!

You can also find your own deal before prices go back up. You still have 3–4 weeks, so just try to place your bid. Your chances to get the best price of the year are very high.
