How Lee Saved 50% on a Dodge Viper and You Can Too! [Autohacker’s Digest]

Welcome to AutoHackers’ Weekly Digest – August 25th, 2024

Every week, I share insights from running insurance auto auction marketplace CARS4.BID. The goal of this digest is to help you avoid common mistakes when buying at auctions and to assist you in purchasing your dream car at the best possible price!

Destroyed Dodge Viper ACR

ScrapLife Lee recently bought a Dodge Viper to rebuild, and I love the projects Lee takes on for a couple of reasons:

  1. The Dodge Viper is an iconic collector’s car, with used models retailing for over $150,000. Lee managed to buy it for a fraction of that price.
  2. Even after repairs, the total cost of the car ($80,000) is still about half the retail value.

Now, you could argue that since this car is a rebuild, it won’t fetch the full retail price. I won’t disagree, but it does give other car enthusiasts the chance to enjoy a Dodge Viper at a fraction of the cost.

While collectors let their cars gather dust in garages as investments, true car lovers get to drive and enjoy them for 50% off. Thus I am so passionate about rebuilt title cars!

I’d love to own and driver a Viper myself in the future. For now, I’m working on a few project of my own: Chevrolet Camaro 2SS and Chrysler 300 with a 5.7L Hemi engine.

Go and check out this video on Lee’s channel and enjoy!

Сar flipping group

As you might know, I have a Skool group with all my courses. Recently, I decided to focus it solely on the car flipping and car dealer niche. My goal is to help you start making $ in this exciting field.

This is not for everyone, but if you are looking for ways to start a gig in salvage car industry – BINGO!

I’ve been in this business for a long time, made my share of mistakes, and learned what works and what doesn’t with over 500 car flips in over 15 years. Whether you want to start car flipping as a side hustle or turn it into a serious business, I’m here to help.

I’ll be hosting LIVE calls weekly in Skool group to answer your questions. To get the most out of me and the platform, be sure to:

Do your homework before clicking ‘buy it now’

I believe that in business, success comes down to core values and the team. If your core values resonate with your team, success is just a matter of time. Before every ‘Buy It Now’ request, we do our best to check the cars, but please, do your homework before clicking that green button!

We had a couple of stories this week – one good, one not so good.

Let’s start with the good one.

Igor, our bidding manager, noticed that a car was missing its transmission and asked our team member to call the customer to notify them. It’s great that the customer was aware of this and had a donor transmission ready.

I love working with customers who know what they’re doing.

Now for the not-so-good story.

A customer spotted a Tesla Model 3 and placed a ‘Buy It Now’ request. After checking the history, we found that it had been in a severe accident and the repairs were poorly done. We notified the customer, who, after seeing the condition, requested to cancel the transaction and refund his deposit. We processed the refund and were glad he was aware of the car’s condition.

We provide plenty of tools on our website and VIN.DOCTOR to help you make smart buying decisions. Please use them!
