When will I get my salvage title?

We had a customer recently, Lado Ramishville, who “terrorized” the whole CARS4.BID team with constant inquiries about the salvage title whereabouts for a week ))) Actually we received 14 emails from him in just 4 days ) In this blog post, I would like to explain how the process of obtaining a title works so you will know when you can expect to receive the salvage title for your car.
Chronological events
Lado purchased a 2015 Acura TLX on June 12th, 2024 in TN and received the car on June 18th, 2024 in New Jersey. This is a very solid deal for an Acura – hail damage car for $5,200, when it retails for over $12,000! This is savings of 50%!
He then started sending messages demanding the title instantly via email, YouTube, and Instagram. He even posted comments advising others not to deal with CARS4.BID!
Come on, dude, you just purchased a car a week ago. )))
Salvage Title Process Explained
Let me explain how the process obtaining a salvage title works from Copart and IAAI:
- When we buy the car, both the car and title are at the auction facility.
- Once the car is paid for and leaves the auction premises, the auction house processes the paperwork and sends it to us (3-5 days).
- When we receive it (3-5 days), we process the paperwork in 2 days. We reassign the title, and send you a Bill of Sale to sign via e-signature.
- We then mail the title via FedEx with signature confirmation to the customer’s address (3-5 days).
The whole process takes about 2-3 weeks, depending on shipping times.
Our terms and conditions state it will take, on average, 30 days. Sometimes there are discrepancies. If a car is purchased with a pending title, it might take up to 30 days to receive it from the auction.
What to do while you wait for paperwork?!
Nothing. Park and wait for the documents, or start fixing the car if it needs any repairs.
You can get a temporary permit from the DMV using copies if the car has no damages, but this depends on your state.

Summary
The waiting time is normal, and most Autohackers understand the timeframe. Please be patient and make sure you have a private area where you can store your vehicle until you get the paperwork from CARS4.BID.
